Part 2 of the recent Federal Budget announcement and how you should react

QUICK TAKE

The follow up

This is how you should react to the Federal Budget announcement.

As promised, this is part 2 of our follow-up to our first take on the Federal Budget announcement. Check out part 1 in case you missed it.

It has been several weeks since the Federal Government introduced the new budget, allowing for a period of reflection and assessment of its implications.

For those who remain dissatisfied and seek to enact change, our guidance is twofold: Firstly, to continue the diligent development of one's startup enterprise, and secondly, to actively engage with the community.

The best way to change the future is to build it.

The best way to ensure that the government listens or thinks about the tech ecosystem when it plans the budget is to have a large enough company that it can't ignore you.

By building something large you also provide an example for other people on how to contribute.

Getting involved is a bit different and less precise. The other way to have an impact is to build alliances and a network of people who agree with your ideas.

This can be pursued through various channels:

1. Direct involvement in political processes, including party affiliation and support of candidates, to ensure one's voice is heard.

2. Participation in community organizations dedicated to advocating for the interests of the tech sector, fostering collaboration with diverse stakeholders, and disseminating information regarding the sector's significance.

3. Strategic allocation of financial resources, such as investment in startups and Canadian venture capital funds, and support for political figures who champion technological innovation.

4. Dissemination of narratives, whether personal experiences or amplification of others', to clarify the contributions of technology to Canada's socio-economic landscape.

5. Commitment to educational initiatives aimed at bridging the gap for individuals marginalized by technological advancements, thereby promoting greater accessibility and inclusivity in the tech sphere.

What are we saying here?

In essence, by both building enterprises of substantial impact and fostering meaningful connections within the community, individuals can effectively shape the trajectory of technological development and its integration into broader society.
