July 24, 2024: Here's what's making news this week 📣

We look back at some early wisdom shared from a Founder and Company that is all over the headlines this week

IN THE HEADLINES

Here’s what’s making news this week.

Clio has now raised (what is being said to be) the largest round of fundraising for a Canadian tech company.

This also skyrockets Clio’s valuation to a staggering $3B USD (up from $1.6b in 2021)

What is Clio?

Established in 2008, Clio has been empowering law firms to enhance their efficiency through innovative technology solutions. Their comprehensive software suite supports a range of essential functions, including billing, client intake, case management, document management, and more.

Initially catering primarily to smaller law practices, Clio's offerings have gained traction among larger firms as well.

Clio's products facilitate seamless interactions with courts, enabling lawyers to e-file documents with ease. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into their applications has further enhanced the capabilities and effectiveness of their solutions.

Why are we talking about this?

Rounds of fundraising, especially of this magnitude, are rare. The Canadian market, which is seen as being far more conservative and risk-averse, has not seen many large rounds of funding come together often.

To see another company not only reach unicorn status but well exceed it, is worth talking about.

Let’s go back to the beginning

TechTO has been fortunate to feature many stand-out founders on our stages, and that includes the Founder and CEO of Clio, Jack Newton.

He joined us back in 2016 at one of our events in Vancouver to share knowledge about customers, growth, and exactly what Clio was trying to achieve.

Given the position they are in now, we find this wisdom fascinating and hope you will too.
