The Future of FinTech — Hosted by Interac
Join us for a two-hour deep dive into the state of FinTech in Canada. This session will explore current market dynamics, investment trends, and the innovative startups that are shaping the next wave of financial services.
🗓 Date: June 23
🕐 Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
📍 Location: TechTO HQ — 782 King St. West
If you're looking to understand where FinTech is heading—and who’s driving it—this is the conversation you need to be part of.
The session opens with a research-driven market outlook from Christian Lassonde, one of Canada's most respected FinTech investors, offering a data-backed lens into the trends shaping the sector today and tomorrow.
You'll hear directly from a panel of bold startup founders who are building in the highest-growth areas of financial technology, translating insight into action across everything from embedded finance to digital identity.
The event also features an exclusive fireside chat with James Lucas, Interac’s Lead of Innovation Alliances, who will unpack how one of Canada's most trusted financial networks is evolving to meet the future of payments, verification, and secure digital infrastructure.
Wrapped in a room full of operators, investors, and industry leaders, this is the kind of high-signal dialogue that doesn’t just inform—it influences what comes next in FinTech.

BUILDERS PERSPECTIVE 🛠️
In this section, we highlight thought-provoking content that is answering burning questions and offering interesting perspectives that today’s tech professionals, founders and builders can use to get inspired.
For today’s perspective, we focus on the Sales side of entrepreneurship and the importance of knowing exactly how to win your customers and audience.
So, what separates a winning pitch from one that falls flat? It’s time to beyond the buzz.
In today's competitive landscape, every entrepreneur, founder, and builder knows the critical importance of a compelling sales pitch. It's not just about what you say, but how you say it, and how effectively you connect with your audience. This isn't just a "nice-to-have" skill; it's a fundamental pillar of your growth strategy.
Taking inspiration from the best in the business, April Dunford (who literally wrote the book on pitching), we have a few takeaways from her recent presentation at Sales Toronto to highlight.
Know Your Audience, Intimately: Before you utter a single word, deeply understand who you're speaking to. What are their pain points? What are their aspirations? How does your solution directly address their needs and help them achieve their goals? A generic pitch rarely resonates; a tailored one always does.
Clarity and Conciseness are King: In a world saturated with information, attention spans are fleeting. Your pitch needs to be crystal clear and easy to understand. Avoid jargon and industry buzzwords that might alienate your audience. Get straight to the point and articulate your value proposition succinctly. Remember, the goal is to intrigue, not overwhelm.
The Power of Storytelling: Facts and figures are important, but stories are memorable. Weave a narrative that showcases the problem, introduces your solution as the hero, and paints a picture of a better future. This emotional connection makes your pitch sticky and more persuasive. Consider sharing a brief, compelling case study or an anecdote that highlights your impact.
Highlight the "Why": Beyond "what" your product or service does, explain "why" it matters. What's the underlying purpose or vision that drives your work? People buy into purpose and passion. When your "why" aligns with your audience's values, you build trust and foster a deeper connection.
Call to Action – Clear and Confident: Your pitch needs a clear next step. What do you want your audience to do after hearing your compelling message? Whether it's scheduling a demo, signing up for a trial, or visiting your website, make the call to action explicit and easy to follow. Don't leave them guessing.
Your sales pitch is more than just a presentation; it's a strategic communication tool that can unlock opportunities and fuel your growth. By incorporating these core principles, you'll be well on your way to crafting pitches that don't just inform, but truly convert.
